Making new friends in online communities is quite common in today’s kids’ lives. It’s great to find people who share the same interests and who don’t mind talking about for instance One Direction several hours in a row.
But what if the other one asks for your home address as they really want to send you a 1D card for your birthday? This was the case with two teenage girls who met each other on goSupermodel.
When the “Can you give me your address” question was cast, the birthday girl clearly heard the alarm bells ring. She remembered one of the most important online rules: You can’t always be sure who you’re chatting with. So she wrote back:
“Ok. I can give you my home address. But first I need you to take a picture of yourself with one eye closed, tongue out and hand on your head. It’s not a fetish or anything, I just need to make sure that I’m actually chatting with a girl in my age.”
