Webucation – learning things online

Imagine if the internet existed when you were a kid. If you wanted to know something you would google it and if you wanted to learn a new skill, you could just watch a “how to video” and baaam – you would have a new skill.

Kids today are growing up in this amazing time in history where just about everything is available  to them a few clicks away. We see it as one of the biggest benefits of being a kid in the year of 2016.

Awesome video by Fusion

This is a great example. The talented girl in the video learned how to dub step in just eight months! How did she do it? With lots of dedication of course and by watching dance videos online: play, pause and rewind! Maybe it is time to rethink the way we teach our kids new things in school. “Webucation” could actually be a new subject where the kids could choose a skill and try to learn it from watching videos and googling.

Quote: “All you need is an internet connection and the desire to learn something” – Usman Riaz

With access to the internet, there are no boundaries to what you can achieve if you set your mind to it. Get inspired by Usman who explains how he became a musician by using the internet as his music teacher, nurturing his mind with videos he found online.

The kids on Momio can watch tons of videos on Momio TV! We source a kid friendly version of YouTube to Momio where they can watch endless videos in a safe environment.

Do you have kids that have learned a new skill from watching videos online? Or have you learned something yourself? Let us know in a comment!
